On November 11, 2000 (Sat.), a round table discussion was held at the Conference Room of the Tokyo International Forum.

Approximately sixty Shinto researchers and those who practice Shinto gathered for this meeting from all over the world, and they ardently discussed the Shinto Studies suitable for the 21st century from various angles and made concrete proposals.

Professor Ryuichi Abe (Chair, Department of Religion, Columbia University) and Rev. Yoshinobu Miyake (a ISF Trustee/ the Chief Minister of Konko Church of Kasugaoka) wittily presided over the meeting as discussion moderators. Professor Minoru Sonoda (a ISF trustee/ Priest of Chichibu Shrine) and Rev. Toshu Fukami (The ISF Vice Chairman) added comments as discussion advisers.
The discussion was followed by a warm reception where scholars from overseas continued to exchange their opinions.
On the following day, November 12th, a public symposium "Why is Shinto Research Important Now" was held. If you are interested in the symposium, proceed this way.
