Activities Summary of the ISF in 2004

March Held the 8th seminar, "Taoism and Japanese Culture" in Chichibu at Chichibu Shrine.
 

Held the Shinto colloquim(lecture) "Yasukuni behind the chrysanthemum curtain" by Dr. John Breen at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan in Tokyo.

May The Result of the Fifth Shinto Essay Competition in China was announced and prizes awarded.
June ISF donated a set of 121 volumes of "Shinto Taikei" to the Department of East Asian Studies, Ca' Foscari University of Venice,
Italy. Also held the workshop "Experiences in Japanese religion".
July Held the Tanabata festival in New York.
Held the Tea ceremony by Mushakouji Senke in New York.
September Participated in the 56th Annual DPI/NGO Conference at UN Headquarters in New York.
The middayworkshop "Rice is Life".
Held the "Autumn Chrysanthemum Day & Moon Viewing Gathering" in New York.
Participated and cooperated in "The Annual Interfaith Service of Commitment to the Work of the UN".
The Result of the Shinto Essay Competition 2004 was announced and prizes awarded.
October Held the 54th Shichigosan Ceremony for the World's Children in New York commemorating the UN Children Day.
Participated the lecture "神祭りの場の女性の姿をかいま見る" at Kyoto, Daikankiji, 京都市「大歓喜寺」中世日本研究所にて
Held the 2nd Shinto colloquim(lecture) "Mutually Exclusive, either-or Values versus Mutually Permeable, both-and Values With a brief commentary on ‘Henotheism’ as opposed to ‘Monotheism’ and ‘Polytheism’" by Prof. Masao Kunihiro at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan in Tokyo.
December Held the workshop "日本歴史における文化の変容" at the national Oriental library in Moscow, Russia.
