Activities Summary of the ISF in 2002

2002
February Held the 6th seminar "The Significance of Rituals in Shinto" in Kyoto.
March "Ashikabi" study group organized a special lecture meeting in Tokyo on "The Emperor Showa in Russian scholar's point of view." inviting Dr. Elguena Molodiakova, from Mosocw, Russia.
April Held "the 2nd Shichigosan Ceremony for the World's Children" in New York commemorating the UN Children Day.(postponed due to the September 11th terrorist attacks)
Held a Shinto Wedding Ceremony in New York.
Organized the Shinto Memorial Service for Terrorist Victims and Shinto Prayer for World Peace in New York.
May ISF contributed to the Permanent Forum on the issues of World's Indigenous People at UN Headquarters in New York.
Participated in the UN special session on Children in New York.
The Result of the Third Shinto Essay Competition in China was announced and prizes awarded.
June Participated in the WSSD Prep Comm IV in Bali, Indonesia.
July Published "Shinto Essay Competition Results" vol.1 and 2.
August Participated in the 8th Annual International Day of the World's Indigenous People at UN Headquarters in New York.
Published the second Ashikabi series booklet "The Emperor Showa in Russian Scholar's point of view".
September The Result of Shinto Essay Competition 2002 was announced and prizes awarded.
Supported the Annual Interfaith Service at St. Bertholomew's Church in New York.
Participated in the 55th Annual DPI/NGO Conference at UN Headquarters in New York.
Held the 8th symposium "Shinto and Japanese Culture" in Moscow, Russia.
Published Seminar book "Shinto's Encounter with Foreign Religions".
October Held the 7th symposium "New perspectives in the Study of Shinto" at University of Columbia, New York. (postponed due to the September 11th terrorist attacks)
Held the 3rd Shichigosan Ceremony for the World's Children in New York commemorating the UN Children Day.
ISF sponsored a one-day workshop on "Shinto ― Japanese indigenous religion" organized by Japan Society in New York.
Organized the Shinto blessing ceremony for opening of  "Muzosa Bujinkan Dojo"  in New York.
November "Ashikabi" study group organized a special lecture and demonstration in Tokyo "The Spirit of Shinto in the Martial Arts - what I found in the United States - " inviting Mr. Shiro Shintaku, founder of "Tenshin - Ichi-Ryu" martial art, from Maryland, U.S.A.
December Held an extraordinary general meeting for the election of new Board of Trustees.
