International Children's Day Celebration (Shichigosan Ceremony)

National Cherry Blossom Festival 2010 NCBF - ISF Booth 2009

On April 10th, the ISF participated in the Sakura Matsuri street festival with a booth providing visitors with information about Shinto. We set up a Shinto altar, Torii gates, ring and offering box. Therefore, many visitors made a long queue to pray to our temporary Shinto shrine.... Read more

Shinto Open House 2010
April 13th, the ISF has taken a root in Washington DC by hosting a Shinto Open House, “How Can Shinto Culture Heal Our Life?” at the Kay Spiritual life center of American University. This is fifth year the ISF has participated in the National Cherry Blossom Festival to introduce Japanese culture such as Shinto.... Read more

Special Event as Shinto Lecture "Kensho - Shodo Calligraphy"
May 13th, We invited Shodo(calligraphy) artist Ms. Masako Inkyo as she performs her calligraphy as an offering to International Shinto Foundation NY center. We had more than 20 participants and they all facinated by Ms. Inkyo's perfomance.

International Children's Day Celebration (Shichigosan Ceremony)
Shichigosan, which means “7-5-3”, is an ancient tradition that dates back to the Heian period of Japan (794-1185). Every November in Japan, parents take their 3 and 5 year-old boys and 3 and 7 year-old girls, dressed in their best traditional Japanese kimono to local shrines to receive divine blessings. This charming event remains one of the happiest memories of childhood.

Shinto Lecture
ISF provide a shinto lecture every other month Japanese and English. Inculdes The Great Purification Rituals twice a year.

New Year Prayers
Start the new year with a traditional Shinto prayer wishing for family happiness, safety and prosperity.

National Cherry Blossom Festival, Washington DC
The NCBF is held annually in Washington DC in honor of friendship between Japan and the United States and springtime. The famous and beautiful cherry trees were gifted to the US by Japan in 1912 by Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo.

Wedding Ceremony
The ISF has held several traditional Japanese wedding ceremonies. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about this beautiful Shinto tradition.
