Shinto Flute Performance at United Efforts for Peace

 

 On Friday, November 7th, 2003, ISF/NY Chief officer, Mitsutaka Inui offered a performance of the traditional Shino flute at the opening ceremonies of the first interfaith gathering orgranized by " Peace Talks," which took place at the Middle Collegiate Church, in the East Village of New York City.

 The program of Uniting Efforts for Peace was attended by about 50 people of various religions and sects to include Rev. Gordon Dragt, Senior Minister of the Middle Collegiate Church who welcomed all to the program at one of the oldest traditional Protestant churches in New york being built by
Hollander in 1628.

 Following the opening welcome, Rev. Inui, ISF Officer performed as "peace flute."
Then, the panel discussion began with Pastor of Arabic, Catholic, Jewish, Protestant, and Buddhist representatives offering answers to three general questions, followed by Q&A from audience. Closing remarks by Rev. Dragt and final performance of Navaho Native American flutist by Amy Vanderwall.

 In summary, as this was the first time performance for Shinto flute at event, all were very impressed with the experience.
