Mitsutaka Inui offered a performance of the traditional Shino
flute at the opening ceremonies of the first interfaith gathering
orgranized by " Peace Talks," which took place at
the Middle Collegiate Church, in the East Village of New York
City.
The program of Uniting Efforts for Peace was attended
by about 50 people of various religions and sects to include
Rev. Gordon Dragt, Senior Minister of the Middle Collegiate
Church who welcomed all to the program at one of the oldest
traditional Protestant churches in New york being built by
Hollander in 1628.
Following the opening welcome, Rev. Inui, ISF Officer
performed as "peace flute."
Then, the panel discussion began with Pastor of Arabic, Catholic,
Jewish, Protestant, and Buddhist representatives offering
answers to three general questions, followed by Q&A from
audience. Closing remarks by Rev. Dragt and final performance
of Navaho Native American flutist by Amy Vanderwall.
In summary, as this was the first time performance for
Shinto flute at event, all were very impressed with the experience.
