Activities Summary of the Shinto Kokusai Gakkai in 1997 1997 August Donated a 125-volume set of "Shinto Taikei (Collected Studies on Shinto)" to libraries at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) of the University of London, U.K. September Sponsorship of an annual scholarship for graduate research in Shinto at Columbia University, New York. October Endowed a chair in Shinto Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara(UCSB), U.S. November Held a Shinto seminar "Shinto - Its Past, Present, and Future", at Nihon Seinenkan in Tokyo. December Accredited as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) associated with the Department of Public Information (DPI) of the United Nations.
